The Costa Blanca is a stretch of coastline in the Alicante province, running from the town of Dénia in the north to Pilar de la Horadada in the south. Spanning over 200 kilometres it’s a big area to explore and there are lots of places to get to know. If you’re hunting for a property to buy in Spain it can be difficult to know where to start. The Vega Baja is a very popular place for those looking to move to Spain but it’s a large area with lots of towns to get to know.

Vega Baja del Segura
La Vega Baja del Segura is a comarca, or region, in the province of Alicante, within the Valencian Community.
The comarca is made up of 27 municipalities, we obviously can’t go through them all but we’ve listed some of our favourite towns and villages of the Vega Baja below…
Benijófar
Let’s start with the town where the Benigest Real Estate office is based! Benijófar is just 10 minutes away from the beautiful white sandy beaches of Guardamar del Segura and surrounded by agricultural land with mountain views.
The town square, La Plaza de la Constitución, is bordered by several restaurants and is alongside the town’s church. Benijófar has many shops, including supermarkets, pharmacy and banks, as well as a new Commercial Centre with bars and restaurants that opened in Summer 2020. There is also a weekly market in Benijófar on Tuesday and Friday mornings, a great place to buy fresh fruit and vegetables.
There are many different types of properties for sale in Benijófar, with something to suit everyone. The town of Rojales is also home to traditional cave houses which showcase local artists, and a house covered with millions of shells on both the inside and outside.
Rojales covers a large area with many popular residential urbanisations surrounding the town’s centre. Ciudad Quesada
Founded in the 1970s by Justo Quesada, a Spanish entrepreneur, Ciudad Quesada is actually part of Rojales but like a town in its own right.

The weekly market is held on a Monday and offers a variety of foods and goods such as fruit and vegetables, clothing and shoes. Formentera’s village square is home to the parish church as well as several bars, so is a great place to watch the world go by.

Algorfa
Algorfa is one of the Vega Baja’s citrus farming villages, located on the banks on the River Segura and surrounded by fertile countryside with a beautiful mountain backdrop.

The beautiful resort of La Finca is located just outside of the village, and is home to a fantastic golf course, hotel & spa, plus many restaurants, bars, and shops. Guardamar del Segura
The forests, dunes and beaches of Guardamar del Segura make it a popular destination for tourists, as well as the fact that the town is just a 45 minute drive from Alicante airport.
Guardamar del Segura’s coastline covers over 12 kilometres, with beautiful white sand dune beaches alongside pine trees forests. The town’s two parks Reina Sofia and Alfonso XIII are perfect for a leisurely walk or cycle, as well as for spotting wildlife like squirrels, swans, and fishes.
As you would expect from a Spanish seaside town, Guardamar offers all kinds of water sports including windsurfing, sailing, water skiing, diving, paddle boarding and more.
Both the town and seafront have plenty of restaurants, offering everything from traditional Spanish cuisine and tapas, to seafood, pizza, and of course ice cream parlours. Almoradi

There is a lovely square in Los Montesinos with several bars and restaurants to choose from, serving international and Spanish cuisine.
