10 reasons to live on the Costa Blanca

If you are planning a move to Spain you probably have lots of questions about which area of the country you should move to. North, South, coast or inland, there are so many fantastic places to choose from.

To help you with your research, we have listed 10 reasons why the Costa Blanca is a great place to live…

1. The weather

The top reason that many people move to Spain is of course the weather. On average the Costa Blanca gets 320 days of sunshine per year, making it an ideal area to live. The winters are warmer than the more northern Costa Brava, and while the summers are hot they are not as scorching as on the Costa de Sol.

2. Lower cost of living

A lower cost of living is another reason that many people want to move to Spain, and the Costa Blanca provides that. The Alicante province is cheaper when it comes to property than Madrid, Catalonia, Costa del Sol, the Basque Country, and the Balearic Islands.

3. International Connections

If you want to visit home or explore more of Europe or more further afield, then the Costa Blanca is a good base to do so. Alicante-Elche Airport is the fifth-busiest airport in Spain and the main airport serving both the Valencian Community and the Region of Murcia.

4. Healthy food

The Mediterranean diet of fresh fish, seafood, fruits and vegetables is held in high regard around the world and you have access to all of these on the Costa Blanca – along with many amazing restaurants! This healthy diet is the main reason why Spain has one of the highest life expectancies in Europe.

6. Great healthcare

Spain’s healthcare is widely regarded as one of the best in the world and more than 10 hospitals in Valencia and Alicante are included in the top 100 hospitals in Spain.

7. Blue flag beaches

For the past 33 years in a row, Spain has officially had the best beaches in the world, with a record of 615 blue flag beaches in 2021. Here on the Costa Blanca, 134 of these are located in the Valencian region, and 86 in the Alicante province.

8. Things to do

You’ll never be short of things to do on the Costa Blanca! Whether you want to relax on the beautiful beaches, take part in some watersports activities, hike in the mountains, play golf on an award-winning course, or do some sight-seeing in the city, the Costa Blanca can offer all of this and lots more.

9. Somewhere for everyone

There are so many cities, towns, and villages that make up the region of the Costa Blanca that there is something suitable for all tastes. From small Spanish villages in the countryside, to seaside holiday towns, and bustling cities, you will most certainly find what you are looking for.

10. Friendly people

And last but by no means least, the people! People on the Costa Blanca are very friendly and will make you feel welcome whether you choose a Spanish town or an expat community.

We hope these 10 reasons to live on the Costa Blanca have helped you with your decision!
